Our Story

The Malmo Story

Sustainable craft, woven into every thread.

A farmer harvesting organic cotton in the field

Maison Malmo has been manufacturing organic cotton bags and textile packaging since 1990, long before sustainability became a marketing line. We began with a simple conviction: that textiles can be beautiful, functional and durable, while being made with greater respect for people and resources. More than three decades later, that conviction still guides the way we design, develop and manufacture our products.

Today, from our manufacturing facilities near Mumbai, India, we work with brands across the world to create textile packaging and accessories that carry their stories as thoughtfully as they carry their products. From responsible material choices and product development to skilled manufacturing and finishing, we bring decades of textile expertise to every project. For us, sustainability is not something added to a product. It is part of how we make it.

One Man's Vision

For a Better World

Passionate about making a positive impact, Imtiaz Malkani, Founder and Chairman of Maison Malmo, took the conscious step to be one of the pioneers in the field of organic textiles in 1990, much before it became a fashion statement. A knitting technologist by profession, he converted his entire manufacturing facility into a certified unit, catering to the needs of conscious buyers wanting to bring about a change for a more sustainable future.

How we work

From field to dispatch, fully traceable

We believe traceability is more than knowing where a material was purchased. It means understanding the journey of a product, from its source and processing to the finished piece that leaves our facility. Our certified supply chain and long-standing manufacturing relationships give us visibility across every stage, while our own production and quality teams maintain control over the processes that matter most.

01

Procurement

We source certified raw materials through trusted partners, including organic cotton from recognised farms, cooperatives and supply-chain partners. Our sourcing process is built around certification, traceability and long-term relationships.

02

Processing

Our approved processing partners transform raw materials into yarns and fabrics using controlled processes, including dyeing and finishing. Where applicable, we work with certified facilities and materials that meet the environmental and chemical requirements of our standards.

03

Cutting & Stitching

At our own manufacturing facility, our experienced team transforms fabric into finished products. More than 200 dedicated people work across production, development and quality, combining skilled craftsmanship with the systems and discipline required for consistent quality and reliable delivery.

04

Quality Control & Dispatch

Quality is monitored throughout production, with final checks carried out by our in-house QC and audit teams before goods are cleared for dispatch. Our logistics team then coordinates packing, documentation and shipment through to delivery.

Honesty is not just a policy, it is an attitude.

Dedicated to upholding a positive environmental and social impact, we work with organizations that encourage eco-conscious living. Being GOTS certified and a member of the Fairtrade Federation, we are committed to responsible production. Our values include social responsibility, excellence, inclusiveness, integrity, learning and authenticity. We favor longevity over fleeting trends. Each product has a purpose and lasting appeal. We believe the best products are not made to be replaced. They are made to be used, valued and kept.

Looking at the World Differently

Our product development team works closely with fibre and fabric partners to explore the next generation of textile materials. From cellulosic fibres to emerging bio-based alternatives, we look for materials that combine responsible sourcing with the performance, durability and aesthetics our clients need.

We work with recycled and alternative fibres that can help reduce reliance on virgin resources and keep valuable materials in use for longer. From recycled polyester to bio-based and plant-derived fibres, we continuously evaluate new materials for their environmental profile, performance and real-world application.
